Hello, I am Angela. 🙂 I started this blog because I had lots of friends asking me how to eat gluten and allergy free. I figured there are surely others that are asking and searching for answers to that same question as well. I was once there and understand. (back in 2010) I now have several years experience trying out recipes that are gluten, dairy, and egg free. I’ve experienced a lot of flops and some great successes. In my early days of eating gluten free, I had no clue what I was doing. It was quite discouraging to have such miserable results when it came to allergy free baking. But, I’ve jumped in with both feet in the kitchen and have tried lots of recipes. I think the more you practice, the more you get the hang of it. 🙂 It feels good when you start to have success with recipe after recipe. The last couple of years I’ve been experimenting at creating my own recipes. The successes are what I share here at Allergy Free Angela.
I know what it is like to be on a restricted diet (no gluten, no eggs, limited dairy, very limited refined sugar) due to my previous health condition. I’ve really struggled during my thirties with some extreme health conditions. I’ve recently been miraculously healed from a health condition that kept me from being able to walk about freely and perform many “normal” daily activities. I was only able to walk short distances and could stand in one spot for limited amounts of time, allowing me to cook and on good days do some extra baking. I love to bake and create new recipes. I share this about my own health because I could tell a big difference in how I felt based on what I ate, when my immune system seemed to fall apart. Many of my strange neurological symptoms improved when I changed my diet. If you too are struggling with your health, it is worth is to eat whatever diet makes you feel your best. I want to encourage you to keep going. Don’t give up-I’m right here cheering you on. 🙂 I share my recipes here, so that others who may be limited in what they can eat, whether due to food allergies, gluten intolerance, autoimmune conditions, or other health conditions can find recipes to enjoy.
If you’d like to know more about me:
I am married to my best friend and college sweetheart, Andy. I have the education and work experience as a registered nurse, however I am now a full time mom at home with my kids. We have four handsome boys that keep life interesting, loud, and busy around here. (all moms think their kids are cute, right?!) Yes, I am the only female in the house. Even our cat is male. 😉 I survive on coffee, good humor and mostly from a lot of grace and help from my Lord and Savior, Jesus. God has always been faithful to me and is my source of joy, even in the midst of struggle and difficult times. I am now a walking miracle, two times over, enjoying life to the full. I’ve been through great difficulties with my health, but rejoice that Jesus has healed me miraculously and I feel completely “normal” now.
