Refreshing Whole Green Juice Smoothie

I am sharing the recipe for my refreshing whole green juice smoothie today. It’s not only very nourishing to the body, but is also delicious. I don’t think I could make myself drink it on a regular basis, if it wasn’t. My kids even like this recipe and drink it with me. Lately, I’ve been making a double batch, so that we all can have some.

I first started making this a little over a year ago. I was really struggling with my health after many months of battling an autoimmune type condition that made it difficult to function on a daily basis.  The physicians couldn’t do much to assist me, so I decided I had better get serious about using nutrition to my advantage.  My dietary changes didn’t cure me, but I did notice an improvement in my symptoms and overall level of fatigue.

When making this smoothie, I tried to think of ingredients that would be beneficial to my health and wellness, as well as still make it palatable and actually taste good. It also had to be easy to make, because I didn’t have much energy or muscle strength. I was actually surprised that I enjoyed drinking this mixture of fresh vegetables and fruit. I was even more surprised that my boys liked it. My then two year old would even ask me to make it for him. Yes, that’s hard to believe, but it’s true. We call it green juice. He would ask me for green juice. It was a great motivator to make it for myself. I do believe that I do feel better and more energized when I drink my green juice. I  have to admit, I am not a big fan of eating kale, but I don’t mind drinking it in my green juice. In fact, I prefer it to spinach when making a green juice smoothie. Have you tried drinking kale? With the right combo of ingredients, it really isn’t bad! 🙂

I thought it was high time I shared this recipe, since I’ve made it more times than I can count and it’s a go to recipe for me. I’ve challenged myself again lately to really get back into drinking this on a regular basis. My health is better and I’m not struggling like last year, thanks to the graciousness of Jesus and His miraculous healing. But, I don’t want to ever get to that place again by my own doing, from lack of nutrition.  I have a tendency to struggle with chronic fatigue and autoimmune tendencies, so I think getting proper nutrients, like from the kale and anti-inflammatory properties from the fresh ginger are important for long term health.  I am especially challenging myself to drink this during the month of December. With all the increase of sugary foods from the holidays, I had better be getting my veggies!

If you’ve been feeling blah lately and down on energy, try some of this healthy green smoothie, full of green juice nutrient power. I am not making any health promises, but it can’t hurt to get your servings of fresh veggies and fruit daily. This helps me get more greens into my diet. I’d rather drink them then chew them, for some reason. 😉

Here’s wishing you a happy and blessed December and good health going into the new year.

Angela 🙂

I use a Blendtec high speed blender. You will need a blender powerful enough to grind up the ingredients.
